M1 M2 The Black Market

John Sullivan was once a promising owner of a small cell phone company. His company was based in Chicago home of the Blackhawks. He tried to promote his company to the Blackhawks and they laughed at him. John decided it was time to get a real job, so he packed up all of his cell phone stuff and put it in storage. He got a job at the Verizon store nearby his house so he could learn more about cell phone companies before he started his back up. John also liked going to the library to learn more about cell phone companies. Then one day he stumbled upon a book. This book told all about the black market. The black market had vendors to sell things needed in the third world countries. The thing that really stood out to John is the amount of money that all of the companies made from these third world countries. The owner would put about 60 thousand into the project and come back to America with millions sometimes even billions. John did as much research as he could on everything in Nigeria. He found out that there was no cell phone service that everyone could afford, so he decided that Nigeria would be where he starts his new company. He picked Nigeria because the government helped Pure Water, and he figured maybe they wouldn’t say anything to him. The government would examine the water before Pure Water would sell it ensuring that the water was safe, but the government never made Pure Water pay taxes or pay registration fees for becoming an independent company. This is what made John Sullivan really want to start his new company down there. He packed up his bags and headed out the door. He stopped at the bank to take out a loan for 60 thousand just like he read in the book. He then went to the airport and bought a one way plane ticket to Nigeria. He spent two days flying and changing planes until he finally got there. He had no idea where he was or where to go. He found a hotel to stay at and bought a room for the night. The next day he went to the U.S. customs building and got his working papers he needed to start working in Nigeria. He made a deal with the hotel owner that if he was allowed to stay there for free he would take care of his room and pay him when he gets his company going. John didn’t know where he should go from the hotel room, so he found an abandoned building and bought it. He purchased electricity for it and installed some computers and an assembly line. He took out his cell phone and thought about what he could do to make it more efficient and cheaper. He also thought that maybe he could make it more like a Tracfone. This way people could pay for what they need and what they don’t use will be carried on until they need to refill their minutes. They could make calls all around the world, and the phones would be made out of cheap plastic and it wouldn’t break. John drew up all the specs and hired someone to build it. Then John bought a bunch of machines so he could build them more efficiently. Then he had to hire street vendors to sell the phones and the minutes. After only one year of selling his phones and minutes in Nigeria he made 2.4 billion dollars. He kept opening little stores all throughout Nigeria providing phones and minutes to everyone for a reasonable price that people can afford. That is the story of John Sullivan.

L1 L2 Roger

There once was a man named Roger. Roger was a Wall Street man with a lot of potential, but then he cracked under the pressure. He couldn't handle the pressure of stocks anymore, so turned to drugs. He started off lightly drinking and smoking, but then he tried something new. His dealer handed him a little plate with white powder on it, so Roger decided to ask what it was, but he didn't get an answer. For some reason Rodger thought it would be a good idea to try it. He assumed it would be cocaine, so he took the rolled up one dollar bill and blew it. Then the dealer said sorry and walked away. This really confused Roger, but he started feeling weird. Not how he thought it would feel on cocaine. He felt like a zombie. He got home and sat on his couch for hours. He didn't feel good or bad he just felt there. He stared at his walls until he eventually fell asleep. The next morning he woke up feeling normal again. That's when things changed. He started sweating like crazy and shaking. His apartment was set at 60 degrees, so him being hot didn't make sense to him. He tried to pour himself a drink, but he couldn't because he was shaking so bad. He started to wonder what his dealer gave him. He grabbed his laptop and started doing research. He looked up how he felt and his currently felt. He tried everything he felt to look it up. Everything he looked up came back with the same answer. Roger just didn't want to accept it. Roger called his dealer and asked him what he gave him. Roger heard the one thing he didn't want to hear. Heroin. Roger's life flashed before his eyes at this point. He didn't know how to react. He only knew one thing. He needed more. He told his dealer he wanted to meet. They met at the usual bench in the park and they talked. Roger asked how much it was to get the same amount of stuff he got from him the other day. Roger was surprised that it would only cost him 20 dollars for a decent amount. He told the dealer he only wanted to do it one more time to get the need out of his system. The dealer didn't care because he was making more money off of Roger than usual, so the dealer gave Roger a little extra to try and get him hooked. Roger went home and did it. He didn't inject it he broke in up and put it in a line and blew it again. Roger sat on the couch and just started at the walls again. He realized he had to go to work. He put the closest suit he could on and ran out the door. He jumped in a taxi and told him to take him to the usual. Roger got to his office, and ran upstairs to him office and sat down avoiding everyone he could. He had to figure out what stocks looked better than others. The only problem is that he could barely focus anymore. He sat in his chair just staring at his computer screen very confused. That's when his boss walked in. He knew something has been up with Roger the last few days, so he made Roger take a drug test. Roger failed it and was fired on the spot. Roger got really depressed after that and called up his dealer. He told his dealer he wanted to spend at least 1000 dollars on the stuff. Roger said after that he would quit. Unfortunately Roger would never get it because when he got to the dealer, the only thing the dealer could say was sorry, and 2 cop cars came rushing in. Roger didn’t want to get caught by the cops so he ran. He stole his dealer’s car and floored it. He got out of there as fast as he could. He was crossing a bridge and knew he would never escape the cops, so he turned the car sharply to the right and flipped off the bridge. Roger was never seen again.
