W1 W2 Chad Muska

For this blog I am going to take some time and give the respect that one of the most influential skateboarders deserves. I am talking about none other than Chad Muska. Chad Muska is your stereotypical rags to riches stories. His story is an amazing turn of events.  In Chad Muska’s part in the skate film “Fulfill the Dream” the rags to riches is shown. The very beginning of the part he is skating through an area that is hit with poverty and he was doing basic tricks like ollies, nollies, and 180’s. Then his music kicks in and he’s in the city doing bigger tricks with the nicer background. This could have been on accident, but I assume this was meant to be symbolism of him following his dreams. The funny thing about Chad Muska’s skating career is that he would bmx until one day his bike got stolen, and one of his neighbors hooked him up with a board. Chad Muska started to skate after that day which was poor timing. While Muska was first starting to skate everyone else was stopping. All the parks were closing and Muska was stuck to skating on the streets. This is what changed his career and skateboarding from then on out. Chad Muska’s mom’s boyfriend would tell him every day that his skateboarding career wouldn’t ever amount to everything. Muska caught a ride out to California with some friends and he started his life over from there. He had no money no job, and he just had to live with other people until he started skating and making money. He went from living with his friend and he had to sleep under his bed so his parents would find him. He would sleep anywhere he could even the beach sometimes. He said those were the happiest days of his life. He said “I never wanted to skate for money; I want to be a skater because I love this to death and it’s a dream.” Lucky for Muska he got money off of skating and he could move on from sleeping on the streets. Chad Muska changed the world with his skating. He got his first sponsor of Shorty’s which is who released the video Fulfill the dream. This is what made Chad Muska. He had nothing to do other than skate. It’s all that he could do, and it’s all that he loved. He felt passionate about it and he applied himself to skating. Chad Muska was one of the most influential skaters in the history of skateboarding. Personally I would have to say that Chad Muska influenced me personally. His style, his love for skating, and his personality just drove me to skating. After he left shorty’s and joined Element that’s when he really blew up. He was one of the greats. Chad Muska, Mike Vallely, and Bam Margera (Before Viva La Bam) were all the legends of that team. They were the best street skaters and they were the most hardcore dudes that were around for skating. There is nothing that they have ever done that wasn’t cool. They always were putting skateboarding before anything else, but Mike Vallely also liked to throw people around, but that’s a different story for a different time. The best example of that is the Muska incident. This was when street skating was starting to get knocked down by security. The Muska incident is when Chad Muska at a competition set up the ramp and tried to do a mega kickflip over the rail, but he bailed and simply said the “F-word” then all the security guards got around him and started to assault him, but Mike V. ran up and defended him. This showed how hardcore the guys were and how they were as a team. Chad Muska is known for what he is one of the most influential skaters ever.
