There was a band named Chasing Bridges. They finally had
their first show. The singer of the band was Justin Marie, the main guitarist
was Nate Lowmair, the bassist was Sean Masson, and the drummer was Brendan
Farley. The band all met during their freshman year. They all went to Lancaster
High School and they didn’t know they could all play different instruments and
had all the components of a band. Justin and Nate first started hanging out
when they were both assigned to do a project for health class. They had to
learn about what the other liked and disliked. At the same time Sean and
Brendan were doing the same thing. Nate found out that Justin really liked to
sing and play acoustic guitar, and Sean learned that Brendan liked to play the
drums. Justin found out that Nate could shred on a guitar, and Brendan learned
that Sean could play the bass like no other. During the next health class they
all did presentation about each other and learned that they could all play
different instruments. In health class their teacher brought up how they could
all start a band. That sounded like a good idea to them, so they all got
together during health class and they talked about how they practiced and where
they learned. Everyone besides Justin went to classes for it. Justin taught
himself how to sing and how to play guitar. This is how he escaped from
everything that was going on in his life. Justin was the one who thought about
making a legit band. They were throwing ideas around. One of the names they
thought of was “Fridays With Her.” The entire band didn’t think that that was a
good idea for the band. They threw that
name right out and came up with Chasing Bridges. Chasing Bridges was the very
first home town band that had a chance of going somewhere fast. They practiced
almost every day after school and sometimes during school they would go to the
band room and write songs and make chord progressions. This is where it all
began for them. The band came together and threw down all the money they could
and booked a place on their first gig. It was at a little place, but they had
to start somewhere. This was an important show for them because if they did great,
it would help future promoters look for them and book them. If they could make
a name for themselves then many doors would be opened that no one else would
have open. They were watching the other bands perform and they felt like they
weren’t as good as the other bands, but then they decided they would play the
best show ever. They got their set list together and headed for the stage. They
played 5 songs. The first song there was no one by the stage, but once they
started playing people started coming. By the time the last song was played
everyone was yelling encore. The only problem was the only other song they had
was only half written and it wasn’t practiced once. They decided they would
give them a little sneak peak, so they played about 20 seconds of the song and
everyone was dying for more, so the band realized their little project would
turn into something much bigger. They made a Facebook page and a twitter for
the band and it was looking very good for them, but that’s when the unthinkable
happened. Justin realized his full potential and left the band to try and go
for a better band. The only problem is the band wasn’t as committed as his
original band. Now Justin Marie works at Tops and doesn’t play or sing anymore.
